One thing that I do know about NBA players is that they love the sport of golf.
Recently, the Chicago Bulls hosted a charity golf event featuring past and present stars to show us that no matter how tall or athletic you were on the hardwood, it doesn't translate to golf:

Dwight Howard and Lou Holtz, Dap Buddies?
For some strange reason, ESPN College Football Analyst Lou Holtz was talking with Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard for his Dr. Lou segment.
Obviously, Lou Holtz was bestowing some keen knowledge and Mr. Howard had to give a little of what the kids call, "Dap":

Dwight Howard Uses Self-Inflicted Punishment After Missing Free Throws
Last night's Orlando Magic-Washington Wizards affair was supposed to be the coming-out party for John Wall.
Sadly, this game over before the first quarter was even half-way done. So, most of us tuned away from this game and we missed this rather interesting scene from Magic star Dwight Howard.
After missing some free throws in the 3rd quarter, Howard was taken out and well, did some push-ups:

There is No Room In JR Smith's Limo
Many of us would probably sacrifice something in our lives to just live the life of an NBA player for a week.
However like Nuggets guard JR Smith, life can be hard. Look at the below picture he posted on his Twitter page of a limo filled with women and him, of course:
For those of you who cant find him, he's that dude in the back of the shot and Yes, I did have to use my Where's Waldo like skill to find him as well.

Lebron James Stars In Attack Mail Item, Believe It Or Not!
Recently, everyone has been piling on Miami Heat star Lebron James due to a myriad of things but I didn't think that someone would use him in an attack ad against democratic attorney candidate Richard Cordray.
We get more from Cleveland.com:
LeBron James may be gone, but he's not forgotten -- even by those playing politics instead of basketball.Eh, we've seen it all now and we learned another thing, Ohio will never get over Lebron James.
James is the face of an attack mail piece aimed at Democratic Attorney General Richard Cordray that is headed for some area mailboxes.
The mail campaign, launched by Americans United for Safe Streets, uses a photo of James on the cover with a tagline asking, "Florida took Lebron. What did we get in return?" On the mailer's flip side, the punchline: "They sent us 92 illegal guns and gun-toting criminals. And Richard Cordray is letting them do it."
The LeBron ad is one of a trio of mail pieces the anti-gun group is sending out against Cordray as well as three pieces being sent out against congressional candidate Tom Ganley. The group said it is sending the mailers to 175,000 homes and spending about $350,000.
The Washington D.C.-based group said Cordray is being targeted because he's allowed Florida concealed carry gun permits to be accepted in Ohio even though Florida's law allows people convicted of violent misdemeanor crimes and people charged with drug crimes to obtain the permits.

Ron Artest on Larry King To Chat About Raffling Off Championship Ring
If you were to tell me that Ron Artest would be on Larry King talking about the raffle where someone might win a championship ring with the Lakers about two years ago, I would have called you crazy.
However, Artest was on Larry King last night and had a nice little discussion about the possible value that the ring could get and charity that it benefits:

Nike's New Viral Ad Campaign Gets Voyeuristic With Kevin Durant
In the current days of the interweb, we have learned not to take everything at face-value.
So, when a Twitter account came into existence called, "kdneighbor35" by an individual named Mathias Murphy made us believe that Thunder star, Kevin Durant moved in next to him, it seemed a little sketchy.
It has eventually now been found out to be a Nike Ad Campaign but some of the videos are pretty entertaining or rather strange:

Cavs Play By Play Man Botches "Miracle" Call
Last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched their first win in the post-Lebron era over the Boston Celtics.
FSN Ohio's Fred McLeod was so excited in the victory that he decided to bust out the whole Herb Brooks line about the name on the front of the jersey being more important than one the back.
Sadly for Fred, there was a foul call before he could have his moment in the sun:

NBA Bans Upside-Down Headbands, Yep They Did It!
When the National Basketball Association started that whole dress code thing back in 2005, I assumed that would be the end of the NBA's meddling into player fashion.
However, I was clearly wrong when it was learned this week that the NBA would be banning players from wearing their headbands upside-down.
We learned this from ESPNBoston's Chris Forsberg when he dropped this Tweet:
Rondo has been thrown under the bus due to this rule but Rondo didn't even bother to wear a headband during last night's debut against the Heat, so I guess it really didn't matter to him.
The real question for the NBA is, "Will they ban inside-out headbands?"

When In Doubt, Put a Hex on Lebron James
Last night, the Miami Heat suffered their first loss in the Miami Thrice era to the Boston Celtics. It almost might seem that someone put a curse or hex on Lebron James.
Wait, someone did? We get more from Black Sports Online:
Yep, Cleveland continues it's love-hate relationship with Lebron James and they would have gotten away if it weren't for those meddling sports bloggers.
The latest foolishness is Cleveland Radio Host trying to be a Hex on the King of South Beach.
WMMS-FM broadcast the hex ceremony Tuesday morning, hours before the Heat’s season opener in Boston.
The radio station says a witch doctor used bones, blood and a James jersey to cast a curse on the two-time MVP.
The host of “Rover’s Morning Glory” says it’s payback for the way James called it quits with the Cavs earlier this year.

Allen Iverson To Play....In Turkey
One of the real questions that has been plaguing me during this NBA offseason was where Allen Iverson would sign? Well today, we finally got his answer.
(Shakes head due to terrible pun)
We get more from Business Insider:
Iverson will be the first NBA MVP to take his talents over to Europe and Besiktas might have finally found their answer.
With the NBA season opening this week and no suitable takers for his services, Allen Iverson will be taking his talents to Istanbul to play for Besiktas of the Turkish basketball league.
Iverson has agreed to accept a two-year, $4 million contact with Besiktas and will report to them by the end of the week. He reportedly turned down more lucrative offers from Chinese team, but instead decided to become the biggest NBA'er so far to move to Europe for his sunset years.

Shaq to Become "Shaquita" for Halloween
While we here at That NBA Lottery Pick are still trying to figure out what we will be for Halloween, Celtics star Shaquille O'Neal already knows what he is going as.
We get more from Celtics Report:
Reminded that next week is Halloween, O’Neal expanded on the train idea, saying he’d board the train while dressed like a woman he dubbed “Shaquita.” Shaq said he (errr, she) might only ride one stop, but would get dolled up in wig and dress, while accentuating his (err, her) assets. To provide the visual, O’Neal stood up, puffed out the chest area of his practice jersey, and playfully chased the reporter who offered the original train suggestion, calling his name in a female voice.Man, that will probably be a sight to see Shaquita on the MBTA but make sure it's Shaq in a costume or I'm not going to be able to defend you from prison charges from beyond the blogosphere.

Magic-Heat Preseason Affair Canceled Due To Slippery Floor
Last night, NBA fans in Tampa, Florida were going to be treated to a rather entertaining affair between the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat.
Only one problem arouse, the court was too slippery. Yep, that correct NBA fans at home the game was canceled due to a slippery court. (Almost sounds like a bad mixed drink!)
We get more from ESPN.com:
Only one problem arouse, the court was too slippery. Yep, that correct NBA fans at home the game was canceled due to a slippery court. (Almost sounds like a bad mixed drink!)
We get more from ESPN.com:
Well, at least look on the bright side, there's a new job opening in Tampa, Florida.
Slippery court conditions forced the cancellation of Friday night's preseason finale between the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat, after arena officials said an oil-based cleaning solution was mistakenly applied.
Some fans reacted angrily, and one Heat player was nearly struck by an object thrown from an upper deck of the arena while the cancellation announcement was made about an hour before the game's scheduled tip-off. Many Magic players, and most of their equipment, were gone at that point.
"It's unfortunate," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, "and a highly unusual circumstance."
The court conditions had been a concern for several hours, after the Magic arrived to practice at the arena -- which hosted a Tampa Bay Lightning game Thursday night -- and found the court was wet and slippery in several spots. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said the court was unplayable in the morning, though he expressed confidence that arena officials would solve the problem. They did not.

Andrew Bogut and Brandon Jennings, Comic Book Heroes?!?
On the level of things that I wouldn't expect to see in the comic book aisle, a comic book where Milwaukee Bucks stars Andrew Bogut and Brandon Jennings are the heroes would probably be an 11.
Sadly, I would be mistaken of it's existence even if it was only for an ESPN The Magazine article.
We get more from Jocks and Stilleto Jill:
Last week Marvel Comics and ESPN announced their joint venture featuring NBA athletes with a comic book make over as promos for this coming season. One by one images are being released. This is the Milwaukee Bucks version that features Bucks Center Andrew Bogut and Point Guard Brandon Jennings.Yep, I'm waiting patiently for the Danny Granger/Tyler Hansbrough one.

One Toronto Raptors fan who was not happy with the play of former Raptor and current Phoenix Sun, Hedo Turkoglu, decided to heckle back his displeasure:

The two met on the set of Monica’s Love All Over Me video back in June. The two later started dating and have fallen head over heels in love.
Some people are saying they are moving too fast, to that Monica Tweeted:
We realize people will have their opinions. That’s the way of the world. But we know who we are & who’s we are. We pray 2 an awesome God 2gether. And that is what keeps us strong. So for all my real supporters who are happy for me. I thank u, I love u, & I’m realistic enough about life To know my journey has just begun. Tommy Heinsohn Does Not Like The New NBA Technical Foul Rules
Although this video is a couple days old, it's still worthy of a pretty good once-over or maybe a twice-over.
The Celtics were facing off in a preseason affair against the New York Knicks, Celtics forward Jermaine O'Neal was called for a technical foul due to a glare at a referee.
Then trying to defend O'Neal, Kevin Garnett started his usual histrionics which got him ejected. Let's just say Celtics color analyst, Tommy Heinsohn, thought the call was stupid:

Your 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers Calendar Featuring Lebron James?!?
The past couple of months have been pretty hard for Cleveland Cavaliers fans and just when you thought they might be over Lebron James, someone decides to remind them what they used to have.

We get more from Cleveland.com:
It was horrible timing by a company called Perfect Timing Inc.Like I said previously on this website, sometimes the stories just write themselves.
The Wisconsin company printed and shipped a 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers calendar featuring LeBron James on the cover -- then James quit the Cavs in a live ESPN broadcast July 8.
Needless to say, the $14.99 calendar is not selling in Cleveland. Not even collectors -- people who might value an unopened James calendar -- are buying his merchandise here.
But James' brand remains marketable in other parts of the country, where he's become an even larger national figure, said Tina Facca, assistant professor of marketing at John Carroll University's Boler School of Business.
"Some collectors may still want to revel in the team's heyday," she said. "Those products will still sell" - just not in Cleveland.
Perfect Timing quickly revised its Cavs calendar to feature Mo Williams on the cover, but the original Turner Licensing NBA calendar is still for sale in several stores, including major bookstores, Costco warehouses and some sports shops.

Kings Owner George Maloof Gets A DUI in Sin City
It's been awhile since we've heard from Sacramento Kings owner George Maloof since the Sacramento Kings decided to fall into a pit of despair for the middle of the decade.
Well, maybe art is imitating life as Maloof was recently arrested in Las Vegas for driving under the influence.
We get more from Pro Basketball Talk:
Their younger brother George is a minority owner in all of that, too. George was arrested in Las Vegas Saturday for driving under the influence, having a just-over-the-limit 0.86 blood alcohol level, according to FanHouse. He was pulled over for speeding and not having proof of insurance on him.The one question that seems to be puzzling me at the moment is how do you get a DUI when you have a plethora of other options to get home under your disposal?
Maloof told police he was just coming back from a wedding where he had four glasses of wine. It is possible this does not get prosecuted — it is not uncommon for cases that close to the line to be dropped in many states.
Let's list some: helicopter, taxi, private plane and Holly Madison.

Reggie Evans and Grant Hill Get A Little Butt-Slappy
Last night, the Toronto Raptors faced off against the Phoenix Suns in a exhibition game in Vancouver, Canada.
The Raptors won in a blow-out but the most memorable moment was a transaction of butt-slaps between Suns forward Grant Hill and Raptors forward Reggie Evans:
That's a little tame to eject a couple of players over that but the NBA did reform their technical fouls rulings, so it's to be expected.

Slow Jammin' with Dwight Howard and Ken Jeong, "Fast Don't Lie"
Just when you thought that Adidas viral video commercials couldn't get any awesomer, the latest one is going to have your head spinning.
It features actor Ken Jeong and NBA players Dwight Howard/Derrick Rose doing a rather impressive slow jam called "Fast Don't Lie":

Lamar Odom Gets A Skittles Machine, Seriously!
Currently, the Los Angeles Lakers are overseas to play FC Barcelona on Thursday but I have a sinking suspicion that Lakers reserve Lamar Odom is eating something sweet.
Lamar's candy-chomping habit has become somewhat famous and even prompted the Wrigley company to send him a custom made vending machine stocked with Skittles.
We get more from the LA Times Lakers Blog:
Why do I have a sinking suspicion that Phil Jackson is going to use his zen mind tricks to record something for Lamar when he is trying to grab some Skittles at 4am? I can picture it now:
Still, Odom does love his candy. As you can see in the photos, Odom now has a Skittles machine -- courtesy of Skittles -- and can satisfy his craving whenever he wants to experience the rainbow.
This is just one more gift with which Ron Artest can't compete. If you'll recall, Artest said he couldn't get a gift for Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian on their one-year anniversary because he couldn't afford it. "Their gifts are expensive," Artest said. "Every time I turn around, they got cars and diamonds."
Now, it's a candy machine. Odom received it last week, said a Wrigley spokesperson, with Skittles being a brand of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. Both Odom and Kardashian requested that the phrase "LKO's Sweet World" be inscribed on the machine. The spokesperson also shared this nugget: "Skittles recently sent him a custom vending machine that will be refilled regularly, doesn’t require coins and features a motion-operated voice recorder that tempts them with Skittles — in Lamar’s own voice (or whatever else he wants to record) — whenever someone walks by."
*Lamar wakes up* (goes to the machine to get Skittles):
"Here are your Skittles Lamar, now make sure to double DeMarcus Cousins in the post and hustle for those rebounds".

Boomshalaka, Barack Obama?
Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we featured a celebration clip in the video game NBA 2K11 which features a visit to the White House where if you win the title, you celebrate with Barack Obama.
Well, now you can play as Barack in the latest edition of NBA Jam as explained by ESPN's Jon Robinson:
EA Sports' new "NBA Jam" game for the Wii is about to top them all, however, as in addition to a hidden team of Beastie Boys, there is an unlockable team of Democrats, featuring President Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore, as well as a team of Republicans that includes George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, John McCain and Dick Cheney.Oh man, I can't wait to pit Sarah Palin/Dick Cheney vs. The Beastie Boys.Sabotage!!!!!
UPDATE: Here is a video of NBA Jam using the playable Beastie Boys team:
