Ron Artest, Mental Health Awareness Spokesman

If you had to put money on an NBA player who would be a spokesman for mental health awareness, I'm pretty sure that Ron Artest would not be the person you would place a bet on.

However, Ron has decided to talk with kids about the mental health issue in California with current California senator, Grace Napolitano.

We get more from San Gabriel Valley Tribune:

Apparently, he has teamed up with Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (no, really, I'm serious) to raise awareness about mental health stigma's and advocate for the Mental Health in Schools Act, a.k.a. HR 2531.

Those who watched the Lakers beat the Celtics in this year's NBA Finals remember Ron thanking his psychiatrist in his post game comments.

Ron Ron and Grace Grace (not working for ya?) will be at Eastmont Intermediate School at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept 9

Sorry sports fans, space is limited and they are only accepting those who R.S.V.P. first.
It's nice to see that Ron is not only talking about his issues with young kids and supporting the use of psychiatrists in certain situations.

Honestly, this post got a little real, so I'll break the tension with the Ron Artest/Helen Mirren clip:
